After joining the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in late 2022, the 2009-built Carnival Luminosa is finally embarking on its United States maiden cruise from Seattle, Washington.
This afternoon, the ship is scheduled to depart from Seattle for its first Alaska sailing, where it will visit three ports in Alaska: Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway. Apart from the port visits, the vessel’s seven-night itinerary includes scenic cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord and a stopover in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Carnival Luminosa is among the three-ship summer program that Carnival is offering in Alaska, providing a total of 19 cruises during the 2023 season, alongside Carnival Miracle and Carnival Spirit. When the summer Alaska season wraps in mid-September, Carnival Luminosa will operate a 30-night transpacific repositioning cruise to Australia through next spring.
After being transferred from Costa Cruises in late 2022, Carnival Luminosa underwent a refit that added several signature Carnival features, including Bonsai Sushi Express, Chef’s Table, Cherry on Top, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, The Punchliner Comedy Club, the Limelight Lounge, Piano Bar 88, Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, and the adults-only Serenity Retreat.
Carnival Luminosa was initially launched as Costa Luminosa in 2009, and has an almost identical layout to Carnival Cruise Line’s Spirit-class vessels (Carnival Miracle, Pride, and Spirit).
