Carnival Sunrise recently underwent a multimillion-dollar refurbishment and maintenance dry dock.
Following nine days at sea, the ship returned to Florida early Tuesday morning and will embark on its first post-dry dock sailing for a Western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel this afternoon.

Spoiler alert: There weren’t a lot of changes as far as the venues are concerned, but a lot of new paint, carpet, flooring, and one new venue was added.

Did you know? Sunrise was launched as Carnival Triumph in 1999 before undergoing a $200 million makeover in 2018 to become Carnival Sunrise.
The ship comes in at 101,509 gross registered tons and measures 893 feet in length. It is designed to carry 2,754 guests with double occupancy.

Carnival Sunrise offers various cabins, from the interior stateroom to the swanky Captain Suites above the navigational bridge.
Stateroom | Number of Rooms |
---|---|
Captain Suites | 2 |
Ocean View Balcony Grand Suites | 10 |
Ocean View Suites | 41 |
Balconies | 502 |
Ocean View Rooms | 302 |
Interior Cabins | 512 |

The atrium was transformed during the initial 2018 makeover to a more contemporary silver and gold palette, replacing the previous purple accents and creating a more radiant space.

The atrium bar and stage retained their original positions from the Triumph days, surrounded now by the guest services and shore excursions desks, their locations also unchanged.

A few steps into the aft dining area, much remains as it was, albeit updated with a refresh during the 2024 drydock.

One of the interesting things they did was an engineering marvel during the 2018 refurbishment; they added over 100 new staterooms. A handful of those new cabins are located where the theater’s ground floor used to be.

During the renovation, the main show theater’s ground level was raised to the fourth deck, making room for additional interior and ocean-view rooms on the third deck.

- Deck 4 & 5: The rebranded Liquid Lounge, a theater showcasing production shows, bingo, and various acts, decent excellent sightlines and increased accessibility and comfort.
- Limelight Lounge: Formerly the Oxford Bar, this space revamps design and functionality to accommodate comedy shows and other events better. This is where the Punchliner Comedy Club is found.

Additional enhancements include the Java Blue Cafe, a bona fide coffee shop open from early morning till late at night, which serves a selection of pastries and drinks.

The reconfigured promenade offers a more interactive pathway through the Sunrise Casino, with the new Warehouse Arcade and Hereos Tribute Bar that pays homage to the military servicemembers and their families. Hereos replaced the SkyBox Sports Bar, which is one in the same.

Other enhancements around the ship include areas receiving new flooring and a new flooring mat in the water park.
