First Disney Ship to Lookout Cay Gets Mixed Feedback

Disney’s Cruise Line’s new cruise destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in Eleuthera, Bahamas, hosted its first visitors on Friday when Disney Magic docked.

Visitors experienced turquoise beaches, cabanas, waterparks, barbeque restaurants, bars, and lots of walking.

Bahamian-Inspired Parade

“Rush! A Junkanoo Celebration” featured popular Disney characters wearing colorful local outfits. Dancers in elaborate costumes moved to children’s songs and Junkanoo music, paying homage to Bahamian culture.

Beaches for Families and Adults

Perhaps the most attractive amenity of all is Lookout Cay’s pristine beaches. A large family beach and a smaller, more secluded adults-only coastline exist. Eleuthera Island offers a generous expanse of white sand beaches with free-to-use loungers along crystal-clear waters.

There are also cabanas on both beaches for rent, including four cabanas spacious enough for large groups.

Waterparks for Families and Kids Only

Lookout Cay has two water play areas: Rush Out Gush Out, where parents can join their kids, and Sebastian’s Cove, where families can leave their children under staff supervision. Rush Out Gush Out has water slides, while Sebastian’s Cove is more of a splash pad.

BBQ Meals and Drinks

The resort has three dining areas: True-True BBQ, True-True Too BBQ, and the adults-only Serenity Bay BBQ. All serve barbecue ribs, roast chicken, burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and side dishes.

Lookout Cay, a tropical water park with colorful slides and pools, is surrounded by palm trees and a sandy beach area under a clear blue sky. This paradise welcomes all Disney Ship visitors to unwind in its vibrant and relaxing environment.

Other options include plant-based stew, grilled mahi-mahi, salmon, and rice bowls. Drinks and desserts are self-service. Note that food service stops at 2 p.m., so plan accordingly.

Four bars are at the destination, including a coffee stall called Mangroves & Co and the smoothie bar Sandsational Smoothies.

Mixed Feedback

While many visitors loved the island, it did receive some criticism. The walk from the ship to the pier is just over a half mile long (.55 miles, to be exact) and is a 15-minute walk. However, there will be golf carts for guests who need mobility assistance.

Also, a shaded walkway and seating were not visible on the first visit, making that half-mile walk in the sun no walk in the park with little ones (though that could be installed eventually).

For context, the pier had to remain a half mile off the coast because of the reef system. This is the same reason that Princess Cays, located two miles away, does not have a pier and has to use water shuttles to get to the resort.

Cruisers that want to visit Lookout Cay can book Disney Cruise Line ships from Florida.
