It’s a big day for Virgin Voyages as staterooms aboard their first ship, the Scarlet Lady, officially go on sale… and, they finally reveal the secret destination to be visited on all of their itineraries.
Welcome To The Beach Club At Bimini
When itineraries were first revealed earlier this year, potential passengers quickly noticed that each sailing offered a stop at a “secret destination.” And today, as those voyages went on sale, the cruise line revealed that the hush-hush hot spot will be The Beach Club: located in Bimini, Bahamas.
Built in partnership with Resorts World Bimini, The Beach Club is designed to perfectly reflect the beauty of its surroundings, from natural materials to soft earth tones. It will overlook the ocean and be anchored by a massive lagoon-style pool.
The theme of the private destination is “retox and detox” with a wide variety of quiet spots as well as areas to pump up the volume. This will be an all-day, into-the-night destination, with mornings featuring yoga and meditation on the beach, and the soothing sounds of the ocean offering the perfect soundtrack.
Afterward, wander around the resort and maybe find the perfect place to chillax for a couple hours… and feel the energy slowly begin to change. The pool will become home to DJ-driven flotilla parties and then, at dusk, bonfires will be lit on the beach as acoustic musical performances fill the night air.
The Beach Club will feature locally sourced food that is included in the cruise fare and will include such fresh offerings as conch and mango salad, banana leaf-wrapped snapper, Bahamian rum cake, and more.
And guests won’t have to go far to find a refreshing beverage, thanks to the six bars located around the club. While there will be plenty of loungers, those looking for a more personal experience for their crew can rent a beach or poolside cabana. And Sailors (as Virgin refers to their guests) who are staying in Rock Star Suites will have a dedicated bar with separate servers, an outdoor terrace, sun loungers, and cabanas.
When the Scarlet Lady arrives at the Bimini pier, guests will be transported from there to the Beach Club.
In Other News…
Back onboard the Scarlet Lady, a wide variety of entertainment options will be available. So unique are the shows that the ship will feature a transformational multi-form theater known as The Red Room. “From modern takes on classic stories, to interactive dance parties and off-the-wall participatory acts,” reads a press release, “the experience will break down the fourth wall and push the boundaries of traditional stage performances.”
The Scarlet Lady will feature six original shows, including one by award-winning producer Randy Weiner, who brought such interactive creations as Queen Of The Night and Sleep No More to life.
But not all shows will be restricted to a traditional theater. Phantom Folktakes is described as “a collection of song-driven micro plays throughout the ship, that seemingly appear out of thin air and disappear just as quickly.” Duel Reality is a modern take on Romeo & Juliet that includes acrobatic storytelling. And Never Sleep Alone is a laugh-filled audience-participation show featuring relationship therapist Dr. Alex Shiller.
Bookings Are Now Open
Although would-be cruisers have been able to check out the staterooms and itineraries for the past few weeks, actual bookings only became available to the general public as of February 14. Prices include all onboard restaurants, gratuities, group fitness classes, and more. The Scarlet Lady will begin sailing from Miami to the Caribbean and Cuba in early 2020.
