New Cruise Ship Attraction Will Dangle Passengers 160 Feet Over Ocean

MSC Cruises’ upcoming ship, designed for the US market, will debut with a first-of-its-kind overwater swing ride at sea.

Swings 160 Feet Over the Water

Situated on the top deck in the Family Aventura district, the aptly named Cliffhanger features two sets of two seats that swing independently over the ship’s edge.

Riders are propelled back and forth 160 feet above the ocean.

The Family Aventura district is one of seven themed areas aboard the new ship and is also home to the Doremiland kids’ area, roller rinks, and water slides. Other zones on MSC World America include the Aqua Deck and Zen Area.

MSC World America’s 7 Districts

Aside from the Cliffhanger Overwater Swing Ride, MSC World America will also feature 7 districts catering to different preferences. There are districts for families with kids clubs and water slides, adults-only areas with pools and bars, and lively promenades with shops and entertainment.

The ship will sail week-long Eastern and Western Mediterranean cruises from Miami. All voyages will call at the private island destination Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Other ports of call include Roatan, Cozumel, and Puerto Plata, D.R.

The LNG-powered ship has a guest capacity of more than 6,700.

MSC World America becomes the newest US flagship when it is named at PortMiami on April 9, 2025.
